Biodegradable

A product being biodegradable means after the product or material has been used, it will eventually break down and degrade back into the earth. With the help of bacteria and sunlight, biodegradable items will once again, be a part of the earth in a short time period. Allowing products to biodegrade will prevent landfills from piling with waste; including packaging supplies. That's why we are providing you with biodegradable, earth-friendly packaging supplies for all your needs. We carry biodegradable bags, biodegradable loose fill, biodegradable cleaning products, and many other biodegradable products.

Biodegradable packaging has become a catchy new trend which is helping our environment significantly. Any small change can make a huge impact on the reduction of landfills. This also results in less demand on the plants ecosystem. Today, most packaging that is biodegradable is made of a few items you may have in your kitchen right now! Items such as corn, potatoes, sugar, and tapioca. As well as palm oil and wood pulp.

Recycling

Recycling is the reprocessing of materials or products into new products. In other words, an item has served its purpose and is capable of becoming raw materials again. Recycling your items such as paper, plastic, glass, and metal can drastically lower the earths consumption of raw materials as well as lower our landfills. We would like to do our part for the earth by offering recyclable, earth-friendly packaging supplies. We offer recyclable corrugated boxes, paper products made from 100% recycled content, recyclable mailers, and many more recyclable items.

We also offer chipboard which are boxes made from recycled cardboard. Right now, boxes make up about 9% of our dumps. However, its in fact very simple to recycle these items! All you have to do is break the boxes down and cut them into approximately 2’ x 2’ pieces and place them in a blue recycling container. We are now even offering recycled content liners and other recycled plastic products.

Each thing we do can save an incredible amount of water and trees each year. Americans today recycle about 32 percent of their waste. This number is almost double the number from 15 years ago, so we’ve came a long way, but now, we’re going even further!

Source Reduction

During the past 35 years, the quantity of waste each person creates has increased dramatically from 2.7 to 4.4 pounds per day. The most effective way to reversed this trend is by preventing waste in the first place.

Waste prevention, also know as "source reduction," is the practice of designing, manufacturing, purchasing, or using materials (such as products and packaging) in ways that reduce the amount or toxicity of trash created. Reusing items is another way to stop waste at the source because it delays or avoids that item's entry in the waste collection and disposal system.

Source reduction, including reuse, can help reduce waste disposal and handling costs, because it avoids the costs of recycling, municipal composting, land-filling, and combustion. Source reduction also conserves resources and reduces pollution, including greenhouse gases that contribute to global warming.

Reusability

IPS is proud to put our reusable products on display for you. We enjoy providing these products for you because we take environmental responsibility seriously.

One product we are excited to tell you about is our reusable Dunnage bags featuring the Superflow valve. Instead of old one-way valves that become costly and wasteful because they can only be used once, consider and upgrade. Our dunnage bags with Superflow valves are fast, convenient and, best of all, reusable!

Recycling Program

IPS Packaging is excited to offer our new recycling program! The program is designed to minimize the amount of waste and maximize the amount of material that is recycled. Our program works in three parts:

When you receive a shipment of stretch film we will also send a Gaylord container for recycling.

As you use up rolls of stretch film you can throw the cores of the rolls into the container, along with the used film from incoming shipments. Also, the cores from rolls of tape and other rolled products can be placed in the container.

Upon the receipt of your next shipment from IPS we will come pick up the container free of charge and take it to be recycled.
