Situation: It was initially a labor intensive process to package 10 bolts and 10 screws of various sizes and weight into flat bags. The manual operation included 12 people and 2 production lines with 6 people per line, each line packaging at a rate of 2-3/min.

Solution: Sharp's 12" MAX Plus™ and E-Z Bags® in multi-layer film for strength and lower pricing for larger sized bags.

Benefits: Work force is reduced to 1 person only, and packaging rate increased to 10-15/minute. The customer is investigating the feasibility of this operation for a different product and may add an Imprinter to apply a bar code directly to the bag at the point of packaging.
