Gypsum Board
What is both flexible and rigid? Linear and curvilinear? Conventional and innovative? It's gypsum wallboard. Drywall is also commonly known as gypsum board, wallboard, plasterboard, Gibraltar board or gib, rock lath, sheetrock, gyprock, pladur, or rigips or simply board. Wallboard with a gypsum plaster core bonded to layers of paper or fiberboard; used instead of plaster or wallboard to make interior walls. Gypsum boards include paper-faced gypsum panels for a variety of applications including interior wall, floor and ceiling applications, Type X boards, abuse-resistant boards, veneer plaster base systems, and panels for use in fire-rated assemblies. Our commitment to the responsible use of natural resources influences the entire process of manufacturing gypsum wallboard. Long recognized as one of the construction industry's most affordable and versatile building materials, it is a staple for contractors. It becomes the walls around us and the ceilings above us. Protecting us from sound and fire while providing our building interiors with beauty, structural integrity and safety, Gypsum board is an outstanding product.
