Poly Bag Manufacturing Options

Poly bags are manufactured in multiple styles to provide different benefits and advantages to your application. Poly bags can differ in how they are stored, the type of seal they are given, and more. Each manufacturing process produces a unique poly bag style that will help improve the productivity and speed of your packaging operations. Let's go over some of the poly bag manufacturing options available, so you can see if there's a certain style that's right for your application.

bottom seal poly bag

Bottom Sealed Bags: Poly bags that are bottom sealed have been cut individually from seamless tubing and closed at the bottom. This holds true for both flat and gusseted poly bags. The bottom seal is the strongest seal available and is usually suggested for medium to heavy-duty uses.

reclosable poly bag

Reclosable Bags: Reclosable poly bags offer convenient access to products that need to be handled time and time again. They can also be made with tamper-evident seals to protect against pilfering. Reclosable bags can have either a ziplock closure or a slider zip closure. Slider zip closures are best for gloved hands.

side seal poly bag

Side Seal (Side Weld): Side seal poly bags are formed from folded polyethylene sheeting and then sealed on each side to create the finished bag. These bags are commonly used for retail applications, such as clothing storage.

back seal poly bag

Back Seal Bags: When poly bags are back sealed, polyethylene sheeting is folded and sealed along the backside of the bag to form a tube. The bags are then cut and bottom-sealed. These are the required type of bag for wrap-around printing.

header packed poly bags

Header Packed Bags: Side welded bags can be manufactured with a perforated top lip that is stapled to a header card. These are used commonly with semi-automatic bag opening machines or in manual operations. The header can be made of corrugated board or plastic. Usually, header packed bags include 100 bags per header.

bags on a roll

Bags on Perforated Rolls: Bags on the roll provide convenience when it comes to portability and storage. The roll of seamless tubing is perforated at specified intervals to make tearing off an individual bag easier, and the opening can be above or below this perforation. Pre-opened bags are suitable for automatic bag filling machines.

wicketed poly bags

Wicketed Bags: Side weld poly bags are created with a lip that has two holes in it, where a metal wicket is inserted. These are used for automatic and semi-automatic openers. You see wicketed bags most often in the food service industry.

flip-top deli bags

Flip-Top Bags: These are side-welded bags with a fold over lip. They are commonly used to store food items like cookies, and are often taped shut rather than heat sealed or twist tied.

doorknob poly bags

Door Knob Bags: These are side-welded, staple packed bags with a perforated lip and hole just below the top of the bag. The hole can be hung from most standard door knob sizes.

flat poly sheeting

Flat Sheeting: Flat poly sheeting is useful for numerous applications. Flat poly sheeting can be used for wrapping, lining, or dividing layers of product.
