A distributor for animal pharmaceuticals was using Ranpak’s FillPak® M manual paper machines to pack a variety of medicinal products (cardboard packages, large and small bottles, liquids, etc). The customer was considering other alternatives due to the high minimum order quantities required by the paper supplier. A Pregis distributor suggested that the customer evaluate the GeoSpeed Quantum paper void fill system portfolio.

chevron cs 1The end user had hundreds of machines spread across multiple locations and pack stations. As a result, the material usage varied widely by machine depending on the productivity of each station. To remain in line with the utilization standards and customer price points, Pregis and the distributor introduced the Quantum MT machine. This solution can be installed anywhere since it is a manual tear device (no power required).

The customer was impressed by the simplicity of the equipment and enhanced ergonomic features. The Quantum MT can be adjusted by height so the paper comes to the operator, preventing the operator from unnecessary reaching and stretching. The competitive machine, on the other hand, did not offer this feature. The Quantum Renew paper was also preferred over the kraft paper currently being used. It helped support the sustainability goals of the company and improved operator satisfaction since it is softer on the hands and easier to tear.

In addition to the ease of use, ergonomic and low maintenance features of the equipment, the customer valued the distribution coverage and service levels that the Pregis distributor could offer. This allowed the end user to maintain low inventory levels.

The company decided to move forward with the Quantum MT solution using Renew 30 lb paper. Within a very compressed transition period, Pregis installed 202 systems in 12 customer locations. As a result of this effort, the distributor and Pregis gained access to additional product opportunities.
